late, late, late... sorry, i've been struggling with motivation for fresh meat, on top of the sleeping struggles, which leave me hours askew from the normal amount of time i have before midnight. there were also a ton of characters in this page.
i tried lifting the colors from the scene on page 21 to indicate it's morning again, but i ended up tweaking basically the entire palette anyway, because i didn't like how it looked now.
the nurse here is a new design, a serval, as a nod to the fact that kim was originally planned to be one, and here is the point where the story will converge with the original idea.

originally this was going to be the hyena nurse retrieving her, but because she was around last night, it wouldn't make sense for her to still be on shift in the morning.
there was one instance where she was supervising lunch after admitting kim, but it was implied it was pretty late, so it was reasonable that she might be only a few hours into her shift.
i think that would qualify was a fridge error (one where you don't notice immediately but after thinking harder on the sequence of events), but those ones are super embarrassing... moreso than forgetting to draw a cup in one panel, imo. glad i double-check things like that. it did require me to redraw the initial panel because i had drawn the hyena nurse already.
she is also the first nurse to not just be wearing a scrubs outfit. the other staff members without scrubs are just guards, not medical professionals. she's easy to mistake for a doctor with just the button-up.
glen is in this scene because originally they were supposed to be doing the first check-in, too. i realized at that point that i had already drawn the koala staff member at the counter glen likes to post at -- internally, it's implicit that if there is no pink shirt at the counter, then they're short on them at the moment. glen especially is somebody who doesn't like leaving the counter... so. just nitpicky on my part. it's kind of weird for glen to be here in the morning, now, but it's believable, since she hasn't appeared in a while, that she might just have weird shifts scheduled or be picking them up.
some of her dialogue was edited during this too. i feel like i walk a thin line with characters who speak more casually and aren't obviously the protagonists. i don't want to imply that less-than-perfect, formal english is characteristic of a bad person. i'm also trying to juggle filler words with characters so their voices don't sound all exactly like mine (coming up with an alternative for "well" has been the hardest)...

for example, this one got changed. the other line i remember changing is how glen asks kim why her rating is so low, which didn't have "do ya think" initially. it evened out the spacing in the bubble and was more... rich, as dialogue, if that makes sense. not the most obvious choice.
another continuity check i wanted to do is to make sure from their last appearances, each one of the characters here was giving a rating at least one point higher than before.
anyway... sorry, i forgot to save the sketch before continuing with this. oh well. shading will come posthaste, but i decided i should upload the flats here since they're done.
