i was struck by sudden inspiration and i decided to take advantage of it... first comic with patience in it!
i could have easily written the same idea featuring monday instead, but i felt like patience was genuinely the more likely of the 2 to accept the offer in the first place, and more importantly, patience is the one i feel like hangs out with more girls, as monday is what i would define as... "questioning," whereas patience knows she likes girls (although the character i ended up having her interact with was a relative for the ease of drawing the scenario).
she probably hears these kinds of small comments about weight and dieting frequently. it feels like a special kind of betrayal when you try to nurture a sense of solidarity and safety with other women, and i'm not sure i'll ever understand how i've met so many girls and women who talk so freely about dieting or exercising more without the same kind of agony in their eyes, but that's whatever je-ne-sais-quois transforms those behaviors into a full on eating disorder.
