so, this is the third to last scene... carmilla's wrap-up, which i feel is the weakest. she's just a very static character! she doesn't want to change. it's like my english teacher's taught me... put your worst argument before the final act. <:)
this will also be the scene where the gay is canonized for the other two.
the nurse is a siamese cat with a little bit of dog mixed in. i ended up coloring her sparkledog style to mix it up, even though she only appears briefly. i needed another staff member for this scene because for most of the comic, the story has taken place in recurring areas and at recurring times -- the cafeteria, and morning and evening.
many of the palettes subsequently also repeated themselves to assist the reader with a sense of timing when clocks and windows aren't readily available. for the last few scenes after the last evaluation, i wanted the palettes to be very different and unfamiliar, so this takes place in the day room during the afternoon. the palette after the evaluation scene would be especially vivid, like saturated daylight.
the beginning lines are obviously a pseudo-reference to twilight because... why not. sets the tone of what the show she's watching is like. the dialogue after that sets the tone of carmilla's thematic purpose, as a character who sees herself as in control of her life as long as she agrees to play the antagonist, suffering a death of her humanity to others (both in her ability to empathize and her ability to be empathized with) rather than her will to live. she's chosen to rot from the inside, essentially.
carmilla's entire character i conceptualize as not necessarily as in control as she deeply, deeply feels, with too much to lose by considering that she could be wrong -- not only wrong about her delusions and sense of control, but consequently from just practicing the mindset that she knows special knowledge that others can't comprehend enough, wrong about... most things. still, i think she's kind of a pushover when it comes to conflict that isn't "fun" or gratifying. she's a vampire, but she's not invincible, even in her own head.
i think those are all my thoughts on this page thus far.
