i'm uploading the flats tonight because being sick has my commission schedule out of whack. it's also bigger than usual at 21 panels instead of 15, so i knew i wasn't going to get it done on time. this is the end of the scene, so it was basically figure out a way to pad the shit out of it, or make the page longer than usual. i couldn't think of any padding this time.
i'm not even sure what i want to say about this page since i'm pretty fried and i talked about some of it on the stream! it was going to be 22 panels, but one got cut, because it wasn't really necessary, but a grounding panel, or, a panel/shot that mainly exists to keep the reader cognizant of where the characters are.
anyway... this scene sets up a few things, namely more differences between kim's new wing and the previous, and establishing a point of reference for the concept of exercising legal rights in the facility. ultimately a point of reference was ideal because of how tabitha's arc develops. tabitha is the only character besides sugar who is in the facility from the beginning to the end of the story, and her prospects are probably the bleakest, so for kim to be able to extrapolate anything she's going to need some observations that aren't tabitha's. it sounds a little convoluted, but i'm hoping it will be satisfying; i like the conversations in tabitha's arc the most out of any of the characters. :)
the only other things set up are the first appearance of lupe and some retroactive development for sugar. lupe doesn't have a wristband yet because she was taken in late at night like kim. the concept of something not being true but being treated as truth, or affecting her reality as though it is, is something sugar carries with her as a character. up until this point she has pointed out things pretty bluntly or just stated facts because it can't be bad if it's true, right?
anyway, that's all i have to say about this page.
