doodle dump 9

time for another doodle dump.

a lot of these ones are meme redraws and concept art for hurts (probably a name i'll be using to differentiate the roach fursona from myself when necessary).

i've had sort of some artistic ennui lately as i've been going through an art low (where you can see better than you can draw, so you notice a lot of flaws in your art suddenly), while having the strong urge to draw more lately, and the meme redraws help with that.

as for the roach design-- i've had the idea of one since last year. the choice of a cockroach is a reference to this conversation from this FaD strip.

i chose german cockroach because i like, half german. i ended up not making the design look much like a cockroach at all. floyd was actually the test run for that concept... i really liked his design, but i think he is drawn too thin for how i look. i ended up going with something closer to sivan's design because sivan is very easy to draw, and also an arthropod. they're overall extremely easy to draw so far.

i am honestly still not completely happy with the design i drew in the ref, but i was too lazy to tweak the proportions anymore. some of the smaller full body drawings i really liked and i felt like i wasn't translating the proportions all the way. it's okay though, not every drawing is a winner.

the only other art is just chipping away at the commission queue. :T much harder nowadays because it's 100% coffee and my own willpower (not to mention my rabbi is pretty adamant about observing shabbat, which removes one of the two days i have to do something besides comic and stream work).
