i think this is the page where i definitively started using thumbnails pretty consistently - they seemed like a good way to remove some of the mental burden while sketching. unfortunately, i don't know if that was entirely true, since i end up liking the expressions of many thumbnails more than the actual expressions.
the structure of the faces is fundamentally different, with the eyes taking up much less space. this means expressions can't really translate perfectly, and, moreover, my models ended up being a little wonky because i'd try to draw over a blown up thumbnail to preserve the compositions. felix's eyes end up a little close together in future pages because the slits on the thumbnail model are much closer than his actual design. you can also literally see him on this page with the line eyes twice, but that's because his distance model is used.
smaller issues with thumbnailing are the panel rows end up being further apart, and smaller drawings is harder on my hand, even if they are sloppy.
i'm not sure how to feel about thumbing regularly moving forward. right now, up to page 20 is thumbed, with 19 being lined. i'm going to try to draw 22, 23, whatever and see how it feels to draw from scratch again. i don't regret thumbing 19, because it's such an obnoxiously complicated sequence, but maybe thumbnailing should only be used for those complicated sequences.

also, this page is the first in the scene with the completely blue palette - the colors, at this point, are fairly set in stone, as this was the end goal of the color transition. i couldn't help but feel it wasn't blue enough, yet if i went any bluer it'd be really in your face (by replacing any non-blue colors with appropriate shades of blue)

otherwise i don't have a lot to say about this page. it sets up more cues that felix is distracted by something internal, rather than all of his distress coming from the environment, tells you charlotte's name, and also alludes to some stuff in the future with the forgetful line.

also, felix's tail will wag both like a dog's and like a cat's throughout the comic, since it seems to catch people's eye and confuse them. it's supposed to be confusing is the thing-
