well! the good thing about running out of my buffer is that i can actually remember the commentary i had about pages.

you can see this entire scene will be a nightmare because of the level of detail required in practically every shot... here are the background characters:

from the script:

the moose was replaced with a golden retriever because i needed a karen. i could have made a moose karen, but i didn't feel like it.
notably, the purple lizard over there is the fourth skink i've designed in proximity to felix's story, with the other 3 being izzi, izzi's twin brother seth, and izzi's girlfriend, aubrey - the latter 2 not appearing in catharsis at all. i'm happy that they look distinguishable, although seth could use a design touch-up.
my main goal for these guys was colors that would work with the palette, and to make sure that the lineup wasn't dominated by fat people because it'd have some unsavory implications.

for the record, the canonical name for the chain felix works for is Wacca's, not mcnaldos, but who cares about the specifics? (me, i care about them)

this palette was extremely outside of my comfort zone and i'm pretty happy with how it turned out. i don't think it looks like any fast food chain i've ever set foot in, but it does look interesting. it's really difficult to work with those "uncomfortable" and dull palettes.

the fist speech bubble i was looking forward to drawing for a while now. it was thumbnailed in the script:

there are... a lot of reasons that the perspective changed. the core concept is still there, so it's okay. i think i'm 2 for 3 with script thumbnails i ended up changing anyway.

ALSO, the coworker in the background is stefanie, seen in a sketch comic from eons ago. she has pink emo bang extensions now. the lion kid is from soft-pedaled.

also also, i spent so long looking for what the counters look like on the employee side. there's barely anything because it's not common practice to point a cell phone at the customers, which would be necessary to take the pictures. there are so many little things that just!!! have next to no reference photos online!!! makes my life a little harder.
