[pinching my brow] this could have been one page. if they weren't so small this karen would have only taken 1 page... these comic sizes are rough sometimes. the shortstack kind of page is great for print, and that's fine because the pages are right there, just a flip away. it only takes seconds to read them. but on the web... it's just different. even if you read it after it's all finished, there's lots of distractions that can prolong a sequence.
live and learn, babeyyy.
i thumbed this page due to a week of shitty sleep -- i thumbed so that i could instead work on do you still think about it and update it this week. lining and coloring is somewhat easier than forming brand new drawings.
weirdly? working with the thumbnail went really well this time. the thumbnail drawings were too trashy for me to try to preserve them by sticking to the badly distorted sketch. if i could thumbnail like that all the time it would be amazing.
there are a couple of "flat mouths" on this page -- i guess i can talk about them. drawing mouths that didn't conform to a 3d shape would be unthinkable to me years ago, while working on drop-out, and some of fresh meat. they can communicate some very specific emotions that just don't work well with snouts otherwise. disregarding this, i just don't think it's worth the effort to carefully outline a 3d mouth in panels that aren't focusing on an expression. in izzi's panel -- a 3d mouth. would anything have been gained by drawing the mouth with more volume on felix 2 panels later? not really. i think if felix's expression was meant to convey a little more anger and teeth, a more realistic mouth might have been a better choice.
the last panel was different in the thumb; it's something that helps lead into the sequence on the next page, which i don't want to drag on.
the little bit of plot being slow-fed to the audience here is that izzi's here for a specific reason, and it seems to be about charlotte wanting to talk to felix again. unfortunately, if she just texted felix, she wouldn't get those 69 packets of sauce... gotta keep up with the algorithm to stay..... relevant...... (she also has another motivation for being there)
