Added 2022-02-16 01:56:55 +0000 UTCso relieved to finally have this done. i really didn't think it would be such an undertaking to draw the exchange. i believe i'll be drawing another large exchange between these two at some point, but maybe not. this was exhausting! i'll definitely focus on some shorter strips with blue first at least. half of the battle of this was the size, and the other half is how rendered it is -- the palette isn't really super limited, and there are lots of details and backgrounds.
the quote about the death tax is from somewhere in the mishkan hanefesh machzor for yom kippur. you can see that the comic was started maybe a month after yom kippur last year, so it was fairly recent, and striking at the time, even though comparing death to taxes is not a novelty.
i think the only other thing i can think of about this is that during the machine metaphor sequence "you must build on top of the machine as more complex demands arise. you cannot make life simpler. you must make the machine more complex."
