do you still think about it, page 15 (sketch)

i really struggled with a lot of this page. i don't feel like i pulled off the splatter to indicate repeated fantasy well. also, the train was so hard to draw that i forgot to draw viscera sleeping in it in the background as an easter egg... i will add her to the final page, though.

also, the second to last panel is based on the longwood medical center. sugar doesn't work there, but she works nearby in a medical laboratory, which i made visible in the background.
also also, apparently i fucked up some layer shit and accidentally deleted the foreground detail in that panel, too, which is like, hurtsjustalittlebit.jpeg. it looks like this from the VOD.

i quite liked it to soften the grid-like nature of the building itself... i'll have to trace over the VOD capture and try to restore what i can. [EDIT: sketch has been restored now.]

that's about all. next page includes sugar's coworker, a bat with no specific gender or name.

there are 3 lab techs total during the late night shift in sugar's section of the lab: sugar herself, the bat, and a human who comes in later. they work in "rolling shifts" so there are always two people -- there's another lab tech that clocks out around the time sugar clocks in, but i don't care to design another one when i don't really have to.
the bat is a medical lab technician. they mostly collect and process samples. they will also analyze results, but they cannot "QC" other employees' analyses and results. sugar typically "QCs" their results when she clocks in, halfway through their shift, and then again at the end of their shift (around 6 AM).
the human is a lab technologist like sugar and clocks in when the bat clocks out. she and sugar are on the same authoritative level, whereas the bat is more of an "assistant" level. she can technically also "QC" the bat's last results, but it typically takes more time than if sugar did it because of the nature of the shifts. at the end of sugar's shift (around 10 AM, but subject to change -- i want her to leave around when a morning shift shows up), they both "QC" each other's work.
it's generally a silent social agreement between them that they work these shifts because they don't want to talk to people. the human is the least antisocial, and delivers results on the phone after sugar leaves, so that the results aren't handed off to a completely different shift where they are more likely to be misreported. overall the biggest job sugar has is quality control to prevent mistakes, although she does plenty of sample processing herself.

that's all i have to say for this page, i think. :) somehow i managed to avoid sketching sugar's teeth in Any panel on this page.
