do you still think about it, page 20 [sketch]

okay, my brain is fried, so i don't have much to say about this page, and i think i already mentioned the intention behind sugar's shift in mood here, with people who are depressed usually not being unhappy LITERALLY 100% of the time.

writing digital interaction is really interesting and really difficult to make sensory. i'd love to explore it more, but i think it would require a character who lives... more digitally, and not just as a method of communication with a real person who is not currently in the room.
choosing to show the texts and reactions definitely takes on a more detached, voyeuristic tone, as i feel particularly engrossed and "there" when interacting online. then again, i don't feel that way while watching, say, a tiktok for amusement. still, i feel as though i'm "elsewhere" -- the brain's activity during the consumption of media leads me to believe that isn't just solely my personal level of dissociation from my body, but an actual phenomenon people experience while interacting with the internet. it's a unique sensory experience, and i think it would be really interesting to see people explore it more.
still, that's not the point of this particular comic.

also, that wall of hearts is going to physically manifest before me and murder me when i have to actually line and color it... i couldn't find any generator for random heart emoji strings online, so i like to imagine this is something lola types by hand, maybe frantically before sugar gets back to work, every weekday.
