do you still think about it, page 24 [sketch]

the last panel feels a little too heavy-handed (no pun intended) for my taste. we'll see how i feel about it tomorrow -- either i'll notice it's actually fine, or i'll redraw the panel once i figure out a better way to frame the goal of having sugar bear these weights on her shoulders. i wanted it to throw back to this panel, in its own way:

the closure between panels 3 and 4 feels a little choppy as well. i considered having 2 images of sugar in an elongated rearview, but decided not to draw it out. it seemed like it would read as odd, and a lot of effort. not every page can be perfect, and the new hard limit on panel count has been really challenging.
i just didn't want to pad the story any longer with superfluous but technically correct setting changes. so, the next page should nonetheless be sugar arriving home. i was conflicted about how i would fit a reference to getting the onions at a store into this page, too, and i was just like... the readers aren't babies. they can understand sugar went to the store without needing to be shown. she Literally said she would go to the store in the text.

sugar goes to the gym here because i figured that would be a newer hobby of hers -- primarily to vent excess energy, and to lift her wife--

that's really all i have to say about this page! not my fave page, but i'm pretty excited to finally get to the last scene, and, soon, the end of the comic.

[EDIT] changed the last panel because it was bothering me a lot. this one helps the reader cool down a bit more for the ending of the comic and helps sugar's reasoning for going to the gym come off more intuitively. i want to draw more equipment fading into that white void, but my hand has decided that one day of not doing the exercises means i should perish, so. only a trashy sketch for now.
