do you still think about it, page 27 (sketch)

i have to ask myself what this page adds to the comic. it could have cut to the next page just as fluidly. i think it relieves some tension with humor, establishes some continuity in the characters, and, i guess, solidifies that they think about each other. lola thinks about sugar enough to cook solely so sugar doesn't have to do it. sugar thinks about lola's art and wants to look at it when they mention they're making it.

still, there's some, ambiguous, instinctive feeling of "pacing" is my biggest reason. it would feel, even now, "wrong" to me not to have this page here.

weirdly, i have nothing to say about this page otherwise. the framing was challenging. i tried something that i've been ambivalent about: a character drawn multiple times in one panel when they aren't moving. it doesn't make sense, but it provides a certain, irreplaceable function, and i think i will need to get used to it as i restrict panel counts.

on the next page, the "end" of the story begins.
