A Lesson in Lessons - Analysis of Episode 4
Added 2021-11-15 04:07:45 +0000 UTCA Lesson in Consequences... oh BOY! I made you all wait two weeks after the big cliffhanger for this one! How fun... How quirky... I had so much fun watching the reactions in the server that I just needed this to be out ASAP! But of course, life happens, and we maintain the schedule how we can.
Two Elis, and y'all chose the nerd in the closet. Playing it safe. Helping the poor defenseless sheep. This was such an interesting choice because I was honestly expecting that a lot of people would think it was a trap and choose to stay with DEli. But nope! Cut that boy free! See where the winds take us on this wild ride!
The knife, after using it to cut the rope disappeared for a couple episodes, but that's okay. We'll see it again soon. This is also the first time that magic is revealed. Big explosion. Designing that was hard. Had to find the right explosion sound, house pieces blowing up, and like 5 different glass shattering SFX all to make it really POP. Those moments are the best part of editing though. The 5-10 second moments where you really just go all out and make the listener feel like something is HAPPENING. So much fun.
Oleg. I uh, google translated some Russian for... idk reasons I guess. Flavor! Storytelling flavor, ya know? His entire purpose is to plant a red herring. Demon seed has mind control/suggestion properties. BUT. As you'll come to find, that doesn't work on you entirely, and it certainly doesn't change how you decide. I had considered making the decision at the end of this one a forced choice due to the mind control, but I realized it would be more fun to let you all decide whether or not you were resistant or not. Much more interesting that way!
Oof. The lore/exposition dump in this episode is kinda cringeworthy honestly. The order. Magic. Blah blah blah. So much that could have been fleshed out over time, but I got kinda antsy and worried that people wouldn't have stuck around for a plot that wasn't Marvel level simplicity. Definitely impacted the longevity and overall potential of the series, but eh... it came back around in the end I think once I decided to really lean into the lore.
For this episode's EROTIC scene I wanted to just play the self-toying with mind control, but again was unsure due to the choice at the end of whether or not it even really works. Instead we just got a somewhat vanilla desperate sex scene between two "lovers."
One thing that I wanted from this episode was to establish some openings and some thought patterns. You can choose either one, even now after the first choice. And no matter what choices you make, there will be info that pushes you towards or away from both of them so that you always question who's telling the truth, and who's trying to play you. Obviously I gave up on that and just went with both being sexy boytoys because in the end everyone seemed to like both for different reasons, and why get rid of the perfect rivals. Twins.
Overall, not an amazing episode by any standards, but definitely an important one due to the lore and small bits of character development within.
Until next time... 💕

I hope you’ve learned that with our decision making, it’s best to just expect the unexpected 🤣 2. Don’t doubt yourself. You’re amazing at what you do.. we definitely don’t need “Marvel level simplicity” to keep us interested 😉 3. You do a great job with making us suspicious of every choice 😂 and we wouldn’t change a thing! You do a phenomenal job with each and every audio! And each time, I can’t wait to hear the next! ❤️
