Progress Report

Remember how I said Chapter 3 would be a trial by fire in being concise?

Well, I failed so badly that Chapter 3 has been split into two halves. I went in to prune it back and added thousands upon thousands of words before I even reached the halfway mark! Oh god!

So if you don't like those big exposition dumps like the ones on Day 15 and 16, sorry, you're getting another one! Good news is though despite being a big fan chonker of a scene, I'm happy with the overall delivery. I've leaned into a some of the more complicated topics in a way that is impactful and interesting, and I feel that the sequence tells the story I want to tell effectively. It's still chonky though, so uhh... yeah. Soz lol.

I'm wrapping up the final tweaks to the newly truncated chapter 3 now and I'll be sending that off to the team so they can suffer through my complete inability to convey information without making a damn saga out of it. I've asked them to point any egregious examples. Hopefully with their feedback, the scene will strike that balance. I don't feel as positively about this one as I did with 17x2, but that's also largely because I had one job and I literally did the fucking opposite so yeah, kinda pissed at myself.

The zesty material formerly from Chapter 3 is now Chapter 4. This will be my priority during my next session. Most of what's there is in good shape and the zesty scene is definitely pushing some strange buttons, so hopefully that'll be a smooth process. 

Then I've got chapter 5 to contend with and I'm sitting here like oh no, it's going to fucking happen again isn't it. By that I mean it's the perfect trap to lure me into overdoing it and making an unnecessarily lengthy exposition dump again and for the love of god not twice in one day fucks sake
