I just completed the initial version of Chapter 5 and it's in good shape. I expect a lot of what's there right now will see little changes between now and the final version, though there are a few bits that need fluffing up a bit or rewording to be stronger. Overall though the scene hits all it's marks and the path to the finish line is clear and unobstructed!
Thank fuck, too. I couldn't handle another chapter 4.
The way this one has turned out, it might be feasible to ship this scene as the final scene of the update if the artwork ahead can't be completed in time. Chapter 5 requires no new artwork and despite clearly showing what might be lying ahead, it still feels like a nice logical ending point. We'll see how things go!
Either way, I'm going to take a break. I expect Chapter 5 to be finished in just one more session, so all going well, it won't be long before I pop back up saying it's done!
(Right now in it's unfinished state, chapter 5 is 8820 words over 634 lines. That makes the new update around 30k words. That number will change before the scene is finished, and I wouldn't be surprised if it stretched well beyond 10k.)
