Ren'Py Web Returns.
Added 2022-07-05 05:15:58 +0000 UTCIt's happening.
Over the past few days, the team has gone over the new Ren'Py 7.5-based web builds to test for bugs and ensure it is up to standard. I'm pleased to reveal that everyone has given the thumbs-ups and thus far, not a single issue has been found! This means we will be going ahead with a beta release in the (hopefully!) near future!
Right now, we're waiting on the Patreon authentication implementation to be finished. It's currently working at a basic level but needs some fine-tuning and testing before we can say it's ready for showtime. This system will check your Patreon membership status before granting access to the build, and is mostly in place to keep our server hosting costs down by ensuring only you guys can get at these builds! The public version will instead be hosted on Itch.io.
In preparation for hosting these web-based builds, we've just shifted our hosting to AWS with our server being based in California. This is a more central location for us here on the dev team, and will no doubt serve the majority of you better as well. The server in question is dramatically more powerful than the one we were on before as well, and this has dramatically improved loading times across the board.
It will likely still be a few days at least before we're ready to open up the gates, and bear in mind that starting out, both our authentication portal and the Sileo web builds themselves will be considered in beta - there might be problems early on, so please be patient while we iron these out!
I'll be back again once we're ready to go!
(And now that I've finished migrating our servers, I can finally get back to finishing up this month's Patreon update!)
