Patreon Build Progress
Added 2022-07-25 15:11:38 +0000 UTCJust a check in to let you know what's going on as I haven't provided much in the way of progress updates here on Patreon. I tend to post smaller more fine grained updates in the Patreon section of our discord server as I feel they tend not to warrant a patreon post, but with how long this build has been taking and how the progress has been, that's amounted to mostly radio silence here on Patreon which is not what I want at all. Sorry about that.
Come hell or high water, this update will release before the month ends so that it falls into the current Patreon billing cycle. I will abruptly end the game mid chapter if that's what needs to happen for the build to make this release window. I'd rather not of course, but something has gotta give.
Right now, 19x5 is roughly two thirds finalized with only the final third still incomplete. Of the two sequences in this final third, I've written one of them two times already and found neither to be satisfactory (though both contain good moments that will likely all end up in the final version of this sequence). The final sequence is incomplete right now with an old chunk of script from the scrapped version of 19x5 acting as the base on which I will build the new version of that sequence. I will do that once I've nailed down the previous one.
Once I release this build, I'll be making some substantial changes to both my routines and our overall development processes. I suspect that in the near future, we will be taking a small break from Tai's Route to pursue whatever it is that we find most inspiring or exciting to work on. We haven't locked any plans in just yet, but CurryCatz and I have spoken and are in agreement that starting work on a brand new reimagined introduction for Sileo would be a neat thing to do. This would eventually culminate in a full replacement for days 1 - 5, being of a significantly greater quality with additional content included along the way. For instance, anybody who might have played the old prototype versions of Sileo back when it was called The Village That Never Sleeps may recall that in that incarnation of Day 1, Diego and the protagonist walk home through the suburbs of Woodcrest during sunset as they catch up on all that has happened since they last saw one another. The new version of Day 1 will reintroduce this sequence, and I expect to add at least one more sequence on top of that as well. And Day 1 is the day I expect to contain the fewest deviations when compared with the old version!
Anyway, my enthusiasm for the new intro is clear to see, look how I just rambled about it! That's why we're doing it. I'm so hopelessly burnt out and exhausted from working endlessly on Tai's relentlessly overstuffed route that it's become a miserable thing to work on, and I don't want it to be like that. Usually, I enjoy what I do, and the fact that I haven't been lately suggests that things need to change, which is why we're going to work on fun things for a bit, hopefully recharging my batteries so I can finish the route off with a bang!
Anyway, until then, I'll keep suffering with 19x5. One way or another, you'll be receiving a build soonish.

2022-07-28 23:55:18 +0000 UTCDo what you gotta do, it's no fun if you're not enjoying what you do. That causes problems, I know this all too well. It happens to me when I write too. Taking a break from the current project to work on something else is a great idea!
