Chara Inktober 31 - "Precious"

(Technically it was "dealer's choice" so I just swiped the 'Precious' prompt from the official Inktober 2018 list for this one.)

As I mentioned before, Vin isn't a terribly materialistic person. She doesn't believe in keeping a lot of possessions because she's so used to having to pick up and move at the drop of a hat. There's one piece of jewelry, however, that she'll never give up no matter what: a necklace that Talon gave her early on, before they came to terms with the fact that they were a couple.

There's a heavy Midoan presence in Neo Shousis thanks to the relative close proximity of Sigma Rhada 6 to Mido. Predictably, a stall can be seen from time to time carrying Midoan wares. Talon happened upon one manned by Nena one day, where she was dealing in handmade sweaters and trinkets. One piece in particular caught his eye, made out of hand-shaped vines with a large green amber at the center.

Nena, being a bit of a puckish sort, didn't bother explaining the significance of such a necklace to Talon even after he explained that he was just buying it because it was "interesting." In reality, these necklaces hold great significance in Midoan culture, being their equivalent of an engagement ring. So, imagine Vin's surprise when she found it laying on her night stand one morning with absolutely no explanation.

After the initial shock of seeing it, she reasoned that Talon probably bought it without really understanding its significance. That didn't diminish how nice it felt to put it on, even if she perceived it as more of a token of friendship than anything.

Congratulations! You made it through this shitfest with me! I didn't know if I was going to be able to stick with it, and I felt certain that people were going to get sick of seeing my shitty dirtbaby over and over. Realistically speaking, these sheets of paper are probably worth less than they were when they were blank in terms of marketability, but I feel really good for having completed this. It's helped me get a little more confident with my inks.

I just hope I can stick with it.
