Tumblr Fallout / Big Cartel Shop (Sorta) Open

Bleh.

Bleh bleh.

First off, lemme just apologize. I'm going to try and get November bundles sent out today. I meant to do it yesterday but lol, Tumblr staff decided to drop a big, fat deuce right in the middle of everyone's Weetabix, so I spent the majority of the day putting out fires in some capacity or another.

Anyway. After mulling it over some, I've come to a few conclusions. Yes, as I see it, Tumblr is probably going to go tits-up at some point soon because they basically just alienated the majority of their user base by going directly after their content creators, whether they realize it or not. In their hurry to be lazy about the entire situation they unleashed a faulty-assed algorithm that's tagging a bunch of legit stuff and leaving a lot of the NSFW stuff untouched. People who don't have a dirty bone in their bodies are being targeted and that's super unfair.

What's even more unfair is the fact that this is happening because while we don't happen to like diddling kiddies, we're being attacked because there's a group of slobs out there somewhere who does. I didn't happen across any personally or I would have reported the shit out of it, and so help me I'll do that on any platform I go to not just for the kids, but to keep this bullshit from happening again because some people couldn't hide their nasty where nobody else has to fucking look at it.

Welp. That was a tirade.

What I mean to say is, much as I don't want to, I'll be maintaining a presence on Tumblr for as long as I can, mainly to direct people to where they can find me on other platforms. Naughty blog will remain, but it too is just going to serve as an ad stream to try and herd people away from Tumblr. I just have too many followers on there to pick up and go entirely when there are still people in transition, or people who might not even have any idea of what's going on.

That said, Pillowfort is supposedly coming back online either today or tomorrow. I like this platform. It's ugly as fuck, but I like it. But I do not expect my followers to drop $5 for a sub right now. Even to me, that's peanuts. But it's peanuts to me as a creator. It is not peanuts to an average user who's used to free platforms, who expect to pay nothing for a feature-complete, not-ugly website.

This is totally fine. Absolutely, completely okay. If anything, this allows me some time to set up my presence behind the curtains so that when Beta is officially over, I can unveil a blog that's already got stuff on it that people can look through.

In other news, I finally have a shop open on Big Cartel. It's small and there's only one product currently there, but I feel a fuck of a lot better about it than I did Etsy.
