Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes
Added 2019-01-06 14:29:36 +0000 UTCNew year, new me. Amirite?
I've spent the last month or so thinking of what I want to do to spruce things up around here a little bit. Admittedly, Patreon has felt much more like an experiment to me than a full-blown career choice. I've frankly achieved more than I thought I ever would here, but the last few months have seen people come and go and I've sort of settled where I'm at, relegating it to more of a side-gig than I'd like. I want to move Patreon into being a more central thing to the way I work instead of something I just make a few extra things for when I finish commissions.
Tier Reconstruction
First things first, I want to reconstruct tiers a little bit. I don't make enough 'adult' work lately to really necessitate a $3 tier, so I'm thinking of merging that with the $5 tier, unless I somehow miraculously pump out so much boob art in the next couple months that I can't help but keep it.
I'm also going to rename everything, because frankly the whole 'stars' thing is impersonal as hell and you guys deserve something a bit more fun than that. I'm thinking something that's more in line with my whole 'crazy bird lady' aesthetic. We'll see what comes of it.
New Tiers
I still haven't completely figured out what I want to add, tier-wise, but I have a couple of ideas. Doodles, for one. People who subscribe at a certain level can get, say, a digital headshot or something every month that they're subscribed. It won't be anything super fancy. Just a little thingy to say thanks, of whatever character they want.
I'm also still thinking of a mail tier. I kind of want to be able to afford a PO box before I do this? But basically, it'd be a sort of sticker/postcard club of sorts. Each month you get a piece of mail from me with that month's postcard and a little exclusive sticker. I don't know what to price this at yet. It won't be super-cheap because of materials, postage, and time. But it's something I've been really wanting to do ever since before I even got my cutter (thanks Ian & everyone else who contributed to that!) and it's time to finally buckle down and do it now that I know how to use the thing better.
I still want to add a video tier, but frankly speaking, that's not going to be a thing until I get my computer replaced, which won't be a thing until I work through my commissions, so I'm just going to have to bull my way through that one. My roomie gave me an old i5 that's still in great shape that he doesn't need anymore, so I already have the first step. Now I just need the rest.
Pay Up Front
This won't be something that affects people who already subscribe, but I'm finally going to change my Patreon to the pay-up-front thing just to facilitate making the more expensive, physical-media tiers possible. Plus I've had a couple people try to skip out on the bill before, and that's just not cool.
Discord
Not much is going to change here, except that I want to start hopping into voice chat more. I admit I've been kind of a chicken with regard to this, but once I get the sound figured out, I'm going to start using the voice chat during streams, and anyone at the $5 tier or above will be able to hop in there with me and talk so the whole world (or like... all of my 10 whole regular viewers) will be able to hear.
Patreon Page
This is sorely in need of a makeover, so that's going to be seeing some updates. I'm just having that classic debate of 'do I write this in first person or go full-stop snob in third?'
(Eventual) Pledge Drive
I want to hold a pledge drive sometime this year. Probably toward the middle, once I'm through a bunch of the work I have built up. But it's going to involve an exclusive goodie that will only be available during this drive, that all of my Patrons will be getting as thanks for being awesome and sticking with me for so long. I'll just need addresses so I know where to send them, but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.
So that's about it. Nothing is set in stone yet. I'm just tired of feeling like I'm gradually coasting to a stop over here, and I'm sure you guys are in want of something new. I've finally, finally started getting into contact with manufacturers for stuff for the zine I'm hosting (http://vodzine.carrd.co) and I'm hoping that some of that experience will trickle over into here.
