Ever since she was a kid, Vin's room had always been her favorite place in all the world. It wasn't a large space, mostly cluttered with plants and tattered books that she'd already read a hundred times and more. The glowing ambers inside them shed just enough light for her to make out the words on whatever story she was reading, lending the place a kind of warmth she just couldn't get anywhere else.
