Things like festivals are typically considered passé to individuals of Vin's age. They're more a thing for children or elders, not young adults who have far better things to do with their time.

However, despite being made fun of for it, Vin takes great joy in attending the Solstice festival—an event held each year at the exact middle of the dry season (akin to our Summer). She likes getting to travel to the capital to dress up in traditional clothing and eat from the various food stalls that can only be found there. Her favorite treats of all are sour gem-sticks, a kind of candy made by an elderly couple who migrated to the woods from their mountain home years ago. This is the only time they ever sell them, so Vin makes sure to save up enough money to buy herself a healthy stash every year.

Again, kid stuff, but you won't catch her caring about anyone else's opinion. Good food is good food, after all.
