Also, you don't need the context of the later seasons at all. Literally everyone who watched that scene when the season first came out could immediately tell the significance of that scene. It's literally meant to be one of the first breadcrumbs. Just because you didn't figure it out, doesn't mean everyone else didn't. It's not a spoiler at all, you are meant to understand a part of what is going on, or at least, have many more questions, after that flashback. I also really hate when people spoil shows for reactors, but my comment was in no way a spoiler. So honestly, stop being a jerk for no reason.

I hate to sound mean, pal, but if you think for TWO seconds you’d know that of course they don’t know “the significance” of the flashback because the context required to understand it won’t be there for another, like 25 episodes. I’m not even a huge anti-spoiler guy. I think the quality of the journey is much more important than being shocked or blindsided. But c’mon, you can’t condescendingly chide someone for “missing something” they have no way of knowing they missed while simultaneously spoiling the outsized importance of a given sequence a full season before said importance is revealed. I hate even bringing this to their attention by responding but this is very common in “the anime community.” Just let people watch the damn show, man. They’ll pick up on it when it’s time to. And if they don’t, it’s not the end of the world. Worst case scenario just point it out after they’ve missed it if it really means that much to you. Come on.
