Channel Announcements!
Added 2019-07-24 11:19:12 +0000 UTCWelcome to new patrons! We got a huge surge in patrons this past month. I'm so excited to see you all here! Here are some announcements:
1) Foundation for Religious Literacy sponsorship: The Foundation for Religious Literacy is a philanthropic organization dedicated to the academic study of religion. It is a nonsectarian organization and has funded organizations such as the Harvard Religious Literacy Project and the Newseum's Religious Freedom Center. They have decided to sponsor Religion for Breakfast! This means the channel will receive a modest amount of funding per month to dedicate to new series. I will start those videos with a shout out to their sponsorship, something like what you would see on PBS: "This video is brought to you in part by the Foundation for Religious Literacy, and our awesome patrons on Patreon." If you have any questions or concerns about this sponsorship, please let me know. I can assure you that they are thoroughly academic and nonsectarian, and they have loved Religion for Breakfast for years now. I signed an agreement with them that says I have 100% editorial control over my content. They will not be recommending topics. My first series that I will be producing include: A 5-episode series titled American Civil Religion, a 5-episode series titled Science and Religion, and a 10 Episode series on Religion in Japan (Shintoism and Buddhism).
2) Sacred Writes videos coming soon: You may remember that I partnered with a Northeastern University initiative called Sacred Writes a few months ago. I traveled to Houston, Syracuse, and Knoxville and filmed 3 videos with 3 different scholars. Those videos will be coming soon. I will give a shout out to Sacred Writes in those videos, but just so you know what to expect, the 3 videos will be on Humanist "churches," "Segregation in Modern American Congregations," and "Indigenous Religions Explained."
3) Latest video: My latest video was on Mary Magdalene and was posted on the Feast Day of Mary Magdalene! Hope you like it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rfy6oiB_U-A&feature=youtu.be
