Americans Are Religious About America
Added 2019-10-10 18:55:27 +0000 UTCHere's my first foray into serialized content! I'm collaborating with a historian of American religion to produce a 5-episode series on American Civil Religion. This is the idea that Americans are religious about America (e.g. founding fathers as saints and martyrs, the Constitution as a sacred document, July 4th as a religious holiday).
Episode 1 explains the concept, but future episodes will cover topics such as the nation's motto "In God We Trust" as well as Supreme Court cases that sought to define "what is religion."
