Channel Announcements

Hello everyone, a few channel announcements.

1) Biblical Archaeology series + Patheos: I have teamed up with the media company Patheos to create a 15-episode biblical archaeology series, which will be published on Patheos' YouTube channel. Patheos is basically a blog-aggregator website for religion and spirituality topics, but they reached out to me to help them get their YouTube channel off the ground with new content. The collaboration enabled me to hire a team of 7 biblical studies scholars and archaeologists to write the series. The first episode will launch on RFB on this Wednesday (Feb 17), and the 2nd episode simultaneously on Patheos' channel and run weekly every Wednesday through March 2021.

2) Livestreams: I haven't scheduled a livestream for a few weeks, because my internet connection in Cairo has been so unstable, the stream is basically unwatchable. I have a brand new 4G router though as of today, and I THINK it will fix all of the problems. That said, I'll be testing my new internet on a livestream for the $5+ patrons this morning at 8:00 AM US East Coast time. I'm sorry this is such super short notice! I'll schedule a proper livestream with more lead-time for next weekend. Stay tuned.

3) Confucianism Series: I closed the poll determining the next World Religions series, and Confucianism won by five votes! I've partnered with a scholar of Confucianism to start writing that series. Aiming for a late March 2021 release. The final Shinto episode will publish later this month.

Comments

I think David was almost entirely fictionalised; I remember seeing a scholar argue that the Omri of the Mesha Stele is the real ancient king who did lots of 'great' stuff but that, since he didn't worship YWHW, the later HB writers just invented David to be an Omri character who actually worshipped YWHW...

Something I’ve always wondered about Bible archaeology is; I’ve read that there is little to no archaeological history to support King David except for a few minor things. Could that be addressed in your video series? Ty

The patheos series sounds exciting
