An Update on an Old Project.

So I’ve been thinking about this comic for a while. It’s been sitting for a long time but I’ve been very hesitant to continue to work on it.
While the initial idea is set in a fantasy space, I still feel that now the subject matter and content won’t be well received. It has to do with some tg/tf and focus a lot on genital transformation. I initially created the script in a place of ignorance, not knowing too much about trans culture and just tinkering with an idea that may be possibly upsetting or uncomfortable to transfemme folks.

Through a few years of self discovery and also talking more with people across the gender spectrum, learning what representation is good and bad has become much clearer. I had intended to tell this story to be a short, sexy one-off but the longer it sits, the more uncomfortable I feel with the themes present in the plot. The original idea was:

- Satu is running through the woods, finds a cave, hides and sleeps there

- A forest witch finds her and wants her unicorn horn. Satu stops her, explains that she was cursed and was exiled from her society. Her only power being that she can change anyone’s genitalia, including her own.

- The witch was intrigued, wanted this tried on her, she enjoyed the feeling and then lewds would ensue.

It seems a bit too gratuitous now, not illustrating a nice experience despite being set in fantasy. It now feels like it was an excuse to draw f*ta when I initially made it, not aware that this is a topic or theme that honestly shouldn’t be perpetuated.
So, as I further my artistic pursuits, I feel it’s best to know when to put something thing to rest when it has the potential to shed a negative light on a marginalized group of folks.

Now, I want to tell stories that will shine a positive light on trans and NB folks that, even while set in fictional scenarios, may be relatable.

Thank you for understanding. I feel better coming to terms with this.
