Jan 2023 Update: A New Year!

Happy New Years!! It's been a while since I have written here with an update so I wanted to start the New Year strong :-) Here's a recap of what I have been up to and what I plan for the upcoming year.

The last couple of months have been a juggle: me trying to relax because it's end of the year but also me trying to wrap things up because it is end of the year. I finished sending out all the preorders from Anime NYC + my store opening from Black Friday; to be fair my partner Poiibo did most of the orders and heavy lifting, tysm!!! Our studio is a mess still lol I need to clean it up some time. Shippo got neutered! Which meant I could focus on more work since he was sleeping on meds LOL but work was kind of chaos in Dec. So I wanted to stay for the holidays to rest and so I could do more house projects, like adding shelves and such, but ended up traveling home to see my family. Didn't really get to draw or chill out during that time, was just spending time with the fam, so essentially I am not sure I have fully rested haha but I'm ready to go again. 

For this upcoming year, I made some rough goals for myself (calendar pic attached). I think the main themes I'm seeing are: systemizing my business so I can quit my job and honing in my content so that I am more intentional + selective with my products/and or subject matter. Every year I make a calendar like the one attached to give myself an idea of what the year will look like. Last year I achieved almost everything I wanted (also attached to compare)! Minus a zine haha. I ended up not wanting to pursue it anymore, esp since it was only to apply for a zine fest (which didn't become a priority for me anymore).

2023 key: Orange are art goals. Pink are events, starred ones are I def want to go, the others are still up for debate. Blue is store openings. And green is personal stuff. I don't have any goals for my full time job other than to quit lol.

2022 key: In orange are my notes end of the year, and circled is what I didn't finish. I remember making this and feeling like, wow these are quite ambitious, but I ended up finishing everything I wanted to which surprised me. The 2023 calendar I made looks crazy but maybe it won't be so bad when I get into it haha.
