Who is who: The Umbra

Their homeworld special conditions make for dawns and twilights far longer than day and night, thus their senses and talents have adapted to this particular environment. There’s no big differences between Umbra society and European Renaissance, save two important details.
Due to their world’s particular conditions, the traditional ‘Twilight trades’ (that is assassination and robbery) are held in high regard by their main religion.
That, added to their natural gifts for that kind of endeavors, means that, far from becoming a thug’s paradise, the church-regulated underworld is place of fierce competition, where only the very best survive.
On the other side, we have their government, unified under the Throne of Shadow, a system that holds a king powerful enough for no one to defy, but no too much to be taken down if enough nobles unite. Still, given the poisonous nature of the noble houses’ relationships, that pretty much accounts as the Throne’s authority being absolute.
