New release: Our Home 3.02.00

Hello, everyone! New release: Our Home 3.02.00

First, we want to thank all of you for your continued support. It’s because of you that we’re able to bring this project to life!

This month’s version is a bit late compared to the previous one, and we won’t bore you with flimsy excuses. The truth is, some versions require more work, and this was one of them. But we believe the result was worth it, and we’re excited to share what we’ve prepared!

What’s new in version 3.02.00?

More news and important details

Post-prologue updates

As you know, the prologue rework has already been released, and we were very pleased with the result. However, there are still some renderings that need improvements to reach the quality level we want; these are from the post-prologue events. We’ve decided to work on these improvements gradually in the future to focus now on free-roam mode. But before diving fully into free-roam, we needed to tweak some details.

In this version, in addition to the story content, we’ve updated the environment renderings, with a special focus on Norah’s house, the rental room, and Aquila. We’ve expanded the view of the scenes, improved image quality, and increased realism.

Norah’s house, one of our most original environments, received special attention. The navigation images were outdated, and adjusting them was essential to ensure that free-roam integrates seamlessly into the game. These are small details, but we believe quality lies in the little things.

New navigation model

We’re testing a navigation model that integrates nearly 100% of the free-roam and VN modes. This will allow VN mode players, upon completing the available story, to explore the world and find extra content without changing their game mode. For now, this feature is implemented in part of the game, but we plan to expand it in future versions. We’d love to hear your feedback on this new feature! If you have suggestions for improvements, we’re eager to listen.

Those playing in VN mode will notice that after finishing the story and returning to the rental room, there will be more spaces to navigate.

Free-roam experimentation: meet Hicco!

Another big novelty is an experimental dynamic for free-roam mode. Since Our Home is a Visual Novel that prioritizes showing rather than telling, each interaction is filled with emotion, with about 1.5 renders per dialogue. This makes each image unique, allowing you to see what the characters feel without needing to imagine. It’s a process we love, but it takes time, especially if we apply this same process fully to free-roam, where interactions can be more repetitive.

To test a new process that can speed up the development of common free-roam interactions, like casual conversations, we created Hicco, a talkative and nosy parrot that flies around PinePool, eavesdropping on conversations and “collecting” residents’ belongings. You’ll be able to find him on the map and interact with him! Hicco offers challenges: answer riddles based on things he’s heard around town to gain access to these items. This dynamic uses simpler animations for these repetitive interactions, allowing us to deliver more free-roam content. But keep in mind that for more unique interactions or those with story dynamics within free-roam, we’ll continue using our standard process that you know and, we believe, love. Below is a demonstration of how this process will work.

What do you think of this idea? Did you like Hicco? We’d love to know if you enjoyed it and how we can improve this experience with your feedback!

What’s next

We’re already working on version 3.03, which will focus on the MC and will be a bit larger than previous ones, with more elaborate scenes (and yes, some spicier ones!). We remind you that, as announced, we’ll be taking 5 days off at the end of May. After 2 years without breaks, this rest is necessary to recharge our batteries, but we’ve already set things up to avoid significant delays.

Some previews of this version.

Thank you so much for being part of Our Home’s journey! You are the reason we keep creating and improving. We count on your feedback to make the game even better. Leave your thoughts, suggestions, or critiques in the comments or through our contact channels. See you soon.
