Blood-war Chronicles: The Huntsmen

They are warriors with superhuman capabilities gifted by the grace of Lord Mikahel. However, to become a Huntsmen one must undergo the Sacred Rite. This involves stabbing oneself with the Holy Shard of Mikahel and thus allowing the Lord to unlock your true potential and bless you with his power. All he asks in exchange is a portion of your time on the world. How much is taken is unknown but Huntsmen have historically never survived into their elder years. A small, but necessary sacrifice to serve the Lord.
Even so, the Rite itself can be painful and excruciating. And unless you are mentally and physically prepared to give your time to the lord you will likely perish.
There are 7 divisions total. 6 are under the direct command of the 6 noble houses, and one acting as the direct guard to the royal family.
