By all means Yumi is fine as a character, but the grating part about her is how she keeps everyone else out of the spotlight in terms of looks and personality. That's the shallow bit, but practice wise say in-plot or in-game, one slowly takes over the lead role in the recent anime, the other with a middling plot and heavily defensive playstyle, where I start to question if her fanbase are deliberately shallow. As said, she's fine as a character, I just do not understand her fan's appeal, apart she's the closest to being an ideal Japanese maiden with a somewhat challenging approach to gain.
