Hey Everyone!
I've been hard at work on SWMC and thought it would be fun to post a live video of the first real long test of Version 2 of the core code update of the Jan 29 release. This .2 release addresses many things!
This one is exciting because the coming update will bring new presets for both X1 and P1 for BBS and Orca - are you sitting down? It's a big one:
Started work on a new filament saving feature βuse long retractions when cutβ or as some of us vets of the 3D printing game call it - Firmware Retraction. You'll never believe this... currently, this stock feature which comes default turned on in Bambu Studio does not work on any firmware but the most current and it is COSTING you material! Even when using stock Bambu profiles, if you are using an older firmware, the feature designed to save you material IS in fact using 36mm MORE material than what is needed on EVERY SINGLE material change! I believe this feature is likely to not be available in older Bambu Firmwares to prevent material jams so my workaround is underway! I have already corrected the over usage in this release which will allow noticeably smaller flushing volumes. There will be a long video going over this because this find is a big one!
This current SWMC update is addressing the material change over-usage from Bambu's Firmware Retraction; this will be very important for X1 Plus users who can not update their machines!
A SteinSwitch for chute tapping has been added to the material change code: sometimes the purge sticks to the sides and does not fall down. This can buildup resulting in overflow. In testing, chute tapping makes a little noise but has dramatically helped with making the purged material drop even when stuck.
Addressed the issue of 10-20mm filament bits that accumulate on the side of the cute from high fan speeds. On 5+ hour prints, they can build up and cause problems spilling over on to the bed. This test posted is an 11 hour print so we will see if the issue is fixed (even tho the test is with out the wiper!).
Removed a slicer position variable for returning to the print after material changes and remapped G91 moves in the filament change Gcode which was causing a rare occurrence of the tool to move out of bounds when slicing with 2 or more plates and turning purge towers off (it's a work around for this slicer bug).
Removed formatting for another slicer bug that causes the code ignore the filament odometer commands on lines with indents past 8 spaces.
New Cool plate definitions added for startup.
Well, that is a lot to look forward to for SWMC, just waiting for the Bambu order to arrive for material to test with!
Thank you everyone for your amazing support on this project!
