A product of his environment, Garble isn't big on apologizing to his juniors... or in general, really. Why should he apologize, anyway? It's not like saying you're sorry fixes anything, right? Actions speak louder than words, and so what needed to be done was obvious to Garble.
Whenever Smolder brought Spike to the Dragon Lands, Garble would help her find ways to reconnect Spike to his roots. In addition to teaching Spike basic survival and fighting skills, he educated Spike on dragon culture and history. Garble hoped to restore some of the little dragon's pride in his heritage, as well as equip him with some much needed training.
Spike was shockingly eager to forgive him. Garble wasn't gonna lie, knowing how little the runt apparently thought of his rancor hurt his ego quite a bit. But he wasn't going to take that out on him. Spike didn't know any better, after all. Garble understood that now.
