Any chance that we (as a community) could help label parts of the live streams with time stamps? I know Benn did this with the recent iPad video and it makes it easier to find specific parts. I get overwhelmed by the 3 hour duration of a livestream, but I can almost be guaranteed there's a 15-30 minute stretch in the middle somewhere that I'd love to tune in to.
2021-01-24 15:44:09 +0000 UTCMaybe a discussion on discord would be better but I thought I'd add the Bastl 1983 Midi to CV is also a good choice, it's 4ch and it has a nifty feature that rescales the CV to the current tune state of a given oscillator so you don't have to tune it.
2021-01-22 19:45:00 +0000 UTCDo you ever use your modular system when scoring visual media? If so, how do you approach those projects as a composer, what is your personal workflow like when you have to work with patches and be mindful of signal flow, versus more traditional instrumentation? And if not, is there a reason why you haven't?
2021-01-22 02:56:12 +0000 UTCIt's no problem switching topics around. Anything goes really!

2021-01-22 01:23:37 +0000 UTCHa, didn't realize it was about modular patching. So can skip my question!
2021-01-22 00:49:02 +0000 UTCI'm curious as to what your approach to modular was before you bought Blue, and if buying a big modular case was something you did having already owned a fair amount of HP of gear or if you did it specifically to give yourself room to grow. Now that it's full do you feel the need to move say the Moog mother's to make room for other small hp choices?
2021-01-21 22:31:33 +0000 UTCYou can either go with Midi to CV or a DC coupled audio interface which will typically handle CV. In Benn's rack he has the Polyend Poly for Midi to CV and it's one of the most capable ones out there, also something as simple as any Behringer module with usb can do some midi to cv. Also some seq and multipurpose modules do that too like the Squarp Hermod or the 1010 music stuff. For Audio to CV you're right, the ES 8 and 9 are probably the simplest USB audio to CV interfaces especially given the small form factor and the optional litepipe expanders. But you can also use any MOTU interface, they used to make a software kit for modular called Volta, so if you have an old 828 hanging around or buy one used you can get some CV capable I/O that way. But I suspect Benn will say he hardly ever does connect it to his DAW considering he says he hardly uses his ES8...
2021-01-21 22:26:04 +0000 UTCIn what way has working with a modular system affected your compositional style (and vice versa)? There's an implicit question in here as well about building modular patches with a specific goal sound in mind as well (as opposed to kind of discovering the sounds that you are making as you go), but I'm more curious about your specific approach to composition within the modular world.
2021-01-21 21:48:41 +0000 UTCAre there any interfaces that you know of that make it easy to connect CV to a computer? I think your most recent video showed an Expert Sleepers module for that, but I've heard they're hard to get.

2021-01-21 21:30:07 +0000 UTCI have always been an "in the box" electronic musician and I'd love to start a modular setup. While many concepts are the same it's really important to understand signal flow, especially in the case of modular sound design. What's a great resource, or resources, other than jumping in head first, to really educate more formally on modular signal flow?

2021-01-21 19:25:28 +0000 UTC^ you guys realize that this stream will be about modular synths and patching? Would make sense to ask questions related to that :#
