It's not against you guys, but I realy hate the term "filler episode" used when talking about Dr Who, because well, for 26 years the show was just a succession of mostly unconnected stories, and the story arcs almost didn't exist before New Who. So yeah, I don't feel like every episode has to connect to some big overarching story, and we would lose out on a lot of fun episodes if the show became more serialized.
