I completely agree. I suggest watching KG+episode 1 at the same time just to set the tone. Part of the problem is that many plot points regarding the events of KG are not addressed in full until later, in this way, the show does it better. If you watch KG early, just remember to constantly empathize with Kakashi's past in viewing who he is currently. Also, I watched Naruto with Subs, but since the Normies started with Dubs, I believe they should continue with them. Part of character is the voice, doesn't make sense to change it now.

Usually I'd say sub but Naruto's dub is good enough to warrant them sticking with it.

I don’t have a problem with them watching KG early but I think most people would agree that their first reaction to Shippuden should be the first episode. I want to see their initial reactions to the different OST’s and just the overall feel of the first episode of Shippuden compared to og naruto. Maybe an alternative could be if they watch KG earlier, do it when the first filler arc is supposed to start.

It’s been years since I watched shippuden, so I had to look up what kakashi gaiden was. Now that I know, I definitely say wait and watch it when it comes up in the anime, not at the beginning. It gives too much story too soon to appreciate it. I much prefer the way you learn little tidbits as the show progresses.

Definitely the gaiden first, Kishimoto's intention was to have it there and it probably wasn't even his call to have it placed so far ahead in the show. It fits perfectly in the beginning and makes the most sense.

Ummm lol. I think the Kakashi Gaiden piece should be left for when it appears on the show. Watching it early will probably confused you and leave a lot of things unanswered for a good while lol. On top of that, it’ll spoil a few things. Now with DUB/SUB, I’ve watched both and honestly you could go either way with it, however I must advise that the SUB does provide a bit more emotion and affect. DUB does a fine job, I personally just really enjoy the voices to some character in English.

I can't really stand Naruto's voice in the sub. The rest of the voice acting is great but the English actress kills the part. I also agree with your point about the group reaction. It's just a lot easier for everyone to watch without missing anything.

Always been a sub guy, but in a group reaction format dub is just more enjoyable from the perspective of the reaction. If it is a single person reacting I always advocate subs. But in a group, Dub just makes for a better reaction. Plus, the Naruto dub is not bad by any means. Not as good as the sub, but it is a fine dub. Anyone saying otherwise is showing ridiculous bias.

Watching Kakashi Gaiden before will diverge your minds to a completely different aspect of the show which I don't think your prepared for yet. There's got to be a certain amount of buildup where those 2 episodes become much more relevant. Hence, why the anime chose to do it later down the road which was great move by them. Right now their focus is Sasuke/Naruto stuff and Akatsuki which is what Shippuden starts off as. Most of the people voting for this are just super impatient im sorry. Also dont care about sub/dub

I'm voting sub. I really cant stand Narutos voice actor. Where as Junko Takeuchi is a legend. Her acting has brought me to tears so many times. I would also like to point out that in the original poll, sub won but you still did dubs which was very disappointing. It also became frustrating whenever someone made fun of dialogue or acting. That wouldn't have been an issue if you were watching the sub. It would also be nice to hear correct pronunciation of character names. But in this reaction format, it's Dub all the way. The reaction imo is smoother and I'm not caught reading the subs then enjoying their reactions. I've watched other reactors on subs. I read the manga as it came out. Watched Shippuden in subs as it came out. Then rewatched it in dub. I can honestly say that the sub and dub quality is roughly equal (subs is better but I voted dub). That being said, there are questionable voice actor choices in dubs. Gaara’s VA tries too hard to be an emo teen. Kurama’s VA sounds like an average guy trying to deepen his voice. And some I can’t mention yet.

I can't explain why but there is a whole reason why the author decided to publish Kakashi Gaiden before Naruto Shippuden, they placed differently in the anime because of TV format reasons.

Some of ya'll in the comments on the subs vs. dubs side need to chill out. Personally, since I switched to subs when the show was airing and was pretty satisfied with the overall experience, I think it'd be super cool if you guys could switch to subs as well. Good voice acting, good time. HOWEVER if ya'll are more comfortable watching it dubbed, that's totally valid. (Especially since people have been clowning ya'll for WAY too long about not knowing information when ya'll are just trying to vibe with the show.) Only thing I'd caution you on if you choose that route is making sure that whatever resource you're using to watch it on has ALL 500 EPISODES dubbed. The dub took a VERY long to catch up and complete with the subbed version. So I heavily recommend double checking that everything lines up before making any decisions on sub or dub, you don't want to be halfway done and then have to switch in the middle or something after all. I don’t know whether to vote subs or dubs. I see the pros and cons with both. They’re watching on Hulu and not all the dubs are on there so it makes sense to just start subs. But I do like most of the voices for dubs and there’s less chance of missing anything. Like if someone sneezes, they might miss something if it’s in subs. And I’m worried with subs that it translates the titles and most of the time the titles are spoilery. I know the title shows when they’re trying to play it but at least they try to avoid reading it. I don’t know. The choice is ultimately up to them and I’m happy either way. It’s not going to stop me from watching

I watched a lot of the emotional moments butchered in the dub and you guys ended up laughing at the voice instead of fully appreciating it. PLEASE watch Shippuden in the sub, it has much more heartfelt moments that the dub actors could not capture.

I say watch Kakashi Gaiden first. As a Manga reader, i was disappointed to not get that before jumping into shippuuden. ALSO, it shows how great quality wise Shippuuden can be, and honestly in my humble opinion Shippuuden starts off VERY weak. They we still trying to get as much time between episodes and their respective Manga chapters, so the pacing is ......well.... horrible. It gets better , but for the first two arcs or so, it gets pretty rough.

Kakashi Gaiden didn’t air until quite a ways into Shippuden. I’m watching the show for the first time now and I think it fits well in that place. I think maybe they should wait on it. Plus, the tone of it fits better after they’ve gotten used to Shippuden rather than right at the start.

Personally, switching to sub now after getting to know the characters for 100+ episodes is going to be rough. You guys had this problem with 7DS, I don't see why it wouldn't affect Naruto reactions too. Staying with dub is headache free.

I feel watching it before starting Shippuden will make the twist more harder to see, i realized it in seconds my 1st watch. Also id say Dub, MAINLY due to "the main Antagonists" Voice. I prefer it in English cause of how deep it is

I think you should definitely start in dub but gradually switch to subs once u are accustomed to the show. Only reason because the ending of the show is not dubbed yet so you will have to switch anyway.

I like naruto in both sub and dub. So I say do watch you want. It's all good. But I do think it's better to watch KG first for reasons I can't say due to spoilers. Just trust us in this. Watch KG before continuing with the series.
