As others have been saying - anyone who's editing or reading these comments from the Normies....you should prepare them for what is most likely the most difficult hour of television they've ever seen. But give them hope that episode 10 is the light at the end of the tunnel.

2020-10-11 13:08:12 +0000 UTCShifty was using a lighter on the gun's iron sight to blacken it with soot. It served two purposes; 1) to make it less shiny and less likely to reflect light and 2) giving the iron sight a clearer silhouette since it becomes matte black.

2020-10-08 19:59:21 +0000 UTCAlso I don't know if you guys discussed this, but the non-commissioned officers (the sergeants) have horizontal white lines on the backs of their helmets, while officers like Winters and Speirs have vertical white lines on their back helmets. You can see this in the last few minutes of the episode. This is so soldiers who are following them know who's in charge in the confusion of battle.

2020-10-08 17:13:23 +0000 UTCSo... Winters at this point is the Battalion Commander. Before Bastogne he was the Battalion Executive Officer, but now he's the full on Commander. As far as I know.. the hierarchy for officers is 2nd Lt, 1st Lt, Captain, Major, Lt Colonel, Colonel.. after that it's a haze. But for Lipton, you're correct Suraj. He got discharged because he was an Non-Commissioned Officer. Now he's being given a Battlefield Commission for Officership. This episode is in the middle for me. It's a good episode to like.. calm down from after the previous episode and I don't really know much trivia about it. For BoB, there was a good mix of practical and CGI. Like the exploding trees in the previous 2 episodes were practical. If I remember correctly, Jones was being groomed to speed through the ranks. But also to put him out of harms way. One of my favorite moments in the series was when Nixon gave Winters his new rank. Winters opens the box and looks at it in disbelief. Like... "I'm really getting promoted?".. dunno why I love that moment. Here's what you gotta know about Webster that they don't tell you. He really didn't want to do anything more than what was expected of him as a soldier. He considered himself an observer. An intellectual. Kind of like a journalist on the front lines. He just wanted to do just enough to get by. Turned down every opportunity for advancement. He never volunteered for anything. He wanted to document the experience as best he can. So escaping from the hospital and getting back to the front lines wasn't exactly what he was about. It's not that he didn't want to help, or wanted to abandon them, but that was protocol and he followed protocol and did what he was told. But... at the same time... his writings and documentation of WWII was considered highly valuable that the writer of the book pushed for them to get published.
