2020-10-09 19:53:22 +0000 UTCEven if you decide to only kill the most heinous of criminals, there are still those who are wrongly convicted and who are not found innocent until after their death or are never proved innocent at all (even if they are). I also believe there are some people who deserve death, and if such horror were to happen to me I know I would also feel the same... but while I can think about my morals rationally, I don't think the death penalty is necessary. Even if you want to talk about "overpopulation" it's because we fill prisons with non-violent criminals, so that's a separate debate anyway. And I also don't like the idea of ruling people with fear. That's called a dictatorship. Even the innocent people will be afraid of you because who knows when you'll change your standards of what is right and wrong? People shouldn't be afraid to mess up~ And also to that one comment I found that said "I love Pat cause he says things that the others are too afraid to say" like what? People can't just genuinely feel like using a death note is wrong and wouldn't use it if they had the chance? Just because people wouldn't agree to do shitty things doesn't always mean it's because they're too afraid to do it lol. Anyway, long winded, but that's my two-cents on the matter. Love your guys' discussions and reactions! Can't wait for more! Edit: Oh, and also, you guys say that a judge has the same power, but in some states it's the juries, not the judges to decide the death penalty and then the judge takes that into consideration. We let criminals appeal their cases to give them a fighting chance to defend themselves. I agree with Chris on everything. I would definitely not trust ANYONE with a death note lol. Except maybe Judge Judy. I also don't know if there is any real evidence that the death penalty lessens crime rates where it is legal.

2020-10-09 16:57:53 +0000 UTCChris point on crime becoming more organised and low-key makes sense but that's easily a preferable alternative to criminals straight-up murdering people, or corrupt businessmen overworking their employees and ripping them off, etc. There's a check and balance to everything but the average citizen would surely be safer walking the streets at night And vice-versa, the average criminal would never dare to do things they might've done before.

Nobody wants another Chinese government. Hell, L just threw a Winnie the Pooh at Light by calling him evil. What happened? Light killed the guy who said it. I love watching reactions to this show in particular, especially when there's a split on who's on whose side.

Light did NOT have to kill Lind Taylor, but his pride led him to immediately do so. THEN not a few seconds later L actually reveals he was watching the whole thing, he revealed what he learned from the experiment, AND he revealed that he learned the region Light is in. Yah...no if L did not reveal himself and made Light think he had one he could systematically start working his way in on Light instead ....... we get an Anime out of it :)

YouTube just does not like death note... 2. I am looking forward to the future discussion of what is justice from you guys, but I wish not to hear the same topic in every discussion. This show is meant to raise the debate of what is justice but not to give you an answer. At the end of the day, it is about who outsmarts the other person will win. ( Think about the movie the Prestige but in anime) 3.Try not to watch the show in a shounen anime mindset, it could possibly mislead you.
