It's interesting hearing all your views, especially as someone up to date on the show. I should point out the Tin Man from the Wizard of Oz needed a heart, not his brain. The Scarecrow was after a brain.

Blake was saying Adam metaphorically became a monster and that's why she left. Also when she was talking about leaving behind a shadow of herself that's just her semblance.
