A few years ago, Team Four Star did a ranking video for the top 24 movies amd specials. This special was dead last and the GT special and the live action movie were so bad they didn't even make the list

The reason Funimation made this change was because the original Japanee dialogue was a long winded technical explanation of why Saiyan's turn into giant monkeys during a full moon.
