Regarding tanjiro and smelling emotional states and openings in combat. Each of the 4 final selection survivors we’ve gotten to know this season have incredible senses. Tanjiro has his smell. Zenitsu can sense demons, when people are lying and the quality of people’s hearts by their sound of their voice and heartbeat. Inosuke can tell if people are looking him, vibrations in the air & hostile intent by the feeling in his skin. Kanao is often staring off into space almost catatonic with the amount of visual stimulation she gets from her eyes. Surj says Tanjiro is the chosen one. But really all four of them are exceptional. Urodaki, the former water hashira was known for his sense of smell. Which is why when Giyu sent Tanjiro to him, he said “he could be a potential heir”. So we have 4 talented demon slayers. 3 hand trained by current or former hashiras, all with uncommon senses.

Tanjiro didn't do any trick with the coin because he didn't have to. That was the whole point of him saying that even if he didn't get the toss he wanted, he was going to keep trying until he got the answer he wanted. He didn't have to cheat

Remember that this takes place in the early 1900's. A lot of people who lived in more rural areas hadn't seen a train.

The demon Marketa is recalling with the drums was the former lower moon six. So he was previously the weakest lower moon, and was removed by Muzan for not being strong enough. If you rewatch those episodes you’ll see that’s part of his backstory. He wanted to eat the boy with the “marechi” blood because he believed it would make him strong enough to regain his position in the lower moons. Rui was the 2nd weakest lower moon. The 6 lower moons are powerful enough to kill scores of demon slayers of tanjiro’s rank, but can be killed by the hashiras. Killing one of the 12 moons is how you become a hashira. The 6 members of the upper moons haven’t been defeated by a hashira in over 100 years.
