Because if they killed him there’s no guaranteeing that Kurapika’s judgment chain would fade after death, and entirely possible that the act of killing him could strengthen it to the degree that they’d never be able to remove it. Pitou was dead, smashed & broken by Gon. But just as her Nen ability was able to sustain and animate Kite’s corpse, Terpsichora was able to take Pitou’s devotion and desire to protect the king. And animate her body after death. HxH is about strategy and emotions. And Nen has very specific rules that are illustrated and reinforced throughout the series.

Tbf Goku going SSJ for the first time wasn't presented as a heroic thing either lol. At least, not in the original/Kai. He lost his shit in the rage, snapped at Gohan to get the fuck out and then brutalised Frieza for a while, taunting him here and there (since the SSJ form heightens his anger and rage). and his motivation was purely to kill Frieza in revenge for Krillin, not to save the universe or anything lol.

Ep 131, 23:04 No, this isn't that type of story. In York new, we learned about Nen after Death. It's why the Troupe stopped hunting Kurapika. And we learned about Contracts, ways to make your nen stronger by accepting restrictions. Gon basically put his life, Nen, potential, everything as collateral for use in 1 fight. Anyone could do it, but no one is that crazy. Thus, why Wing didn't want to teach them Nen. Gon is a monster.

Imagine a phone on the lowest possible volume setting, muffled by being in a pocket, plus the echoing and ambient noise you mentioned. Pitou would have been the only one capable of making it out indeed.

The thing about Gon not hearing the voice from the phone, while we can clearly hear it, first confused me. But then if you look at what the narrator says there, that the echoes in the hallway were super-loud, it starts to become clear. We can hear the voice because we're the audience and we obviously need to know what is said, but in fact, Gon (and anybody else in the vicinity) can;t because the echoes really do drown out the phone's audio, especially given how empty the place is. Pitou's senses are simply sharper than Gon's, which is to be expected.

And 131 is why everyone who has watched hxh agrees that the show isnt really about long flashy fights, its about the emotions and reasons behind the fights. "Typical" shounens would have multi-episode fights where persevering is the main focus but this climax was just the most 1 sided dunk and yet it was amazing because of what it meant to Gon and how it changed him/resolved his character arc from being the carefree kid we knew into a bloodthirsty adult seeking revenge. Hell, the dodgeball match was probably the longest consistent "fight" in this show at 2eps long since even Kurapika vs Uvo, Gon v Bomber, and even Netero v Meruem mostly just lasted for one episode

Gon's transformation is pretty meta. It's cool on it's own but it's also a critique on the shonen power up. You know when the protagonist turns super saiyan, plus ultra 190 ect ect. It's usually presented as triumphant heroic thing, but a 13 year being swallowed by anger and grief isn't heroic or triumphant it's sad. Gon looks monstrous during his transformation, the OST that plays after Gon hits Pitou with the first Jajaken is called Hunters are Evil. The fucking screeching violin that plays when he charges it up is straight out of a horror movie. This episode is so great

Just so you guys know, the way Pitou used her Nen even after death is not as far-fetched as you might think as well, this concept of Nen after death has been forshadowed way back in the York New arc, where Phinks and Feitan decided not to pursue Kurapika because they were afraid what might happen if Kurapika dies while his Nen was still in Chrollo

For the gon transformation, it goes back when nen principles when you have nen restrictions and limitations makes your power that greater in itself. So when gon is basically giving it his all he is sacrificing his life to achieve that form. With bisky her buff form is her original form so she is having none restrictions or limitations.As for pitou there is a thing with nen that if your will and desire is so strong that it can last even after death post mortem nen will continue no matter what. People do say that when gon actually mature in to adulthood that this would be like this with no restrictions or limitations.

Nahid is 100% right about Pitou. If Pitou wanted to she could have attacked Gon when he was having his breakdown. I think she was legitimate sorry to see how her actions broke this random 12 year old boy. She wasn't lying about healing Kite simply because she didn't know who Kite was. It's not like she knew his name when they fought, and remember that Pitou didn't even remember Gon until this moment. Kite could have been anyone in her mind. When she saw him she understood the situation and her instinct was to tell Gon the truth and apologize. Emotions are complex Pitou could be both sorry about Kite and think that she has no other option but to kill Gon bc he is threat to the person she cares about
