yeah this show is more linked towards Snorre's Saga's then it is the Vikings shows. In the Saga's you have the kings of Norway and such doing almost super hero feats.

I mean Im always down for a good dub but Thorfinns jap VA is too good to pass on. The screams are something a dub could never replicate bc eng VAs cant be too harsh on their voices unlike jap ones

Guys don't skip the ed they're really good and episodes have more impact once you listen to the ed after a significant moment, that's the only problem I had with this reaction everything it was great to see you guys excited about the show.

Micky you looking away too much my guy. You miss out on stuff with subs if you look away from the screen too much. It isn't a big deal but you missed the entire little end bit with showing a certain weapon because you were looking at your phone.

I think it would be best not to compare the live action show Vikings to Vinland Saga. Vinland is primarily based on the Old Norse Sagas and is significantly more historically accurate than Vikings. The weapons and armor for example are much more in line to their time period in Vinland than in Vikings. Also, a lot of names are derived from each other and from past figures, (Thors & Thorfinn) so the names you recognize from Vikings aren’t necessarily the same individuals you are remembering from Vikings. There are probably peasant farmers out there named Herald and Floki for example.

I Think you guys are confusing characters Thors(the guy with the black hair/the Dad) is a made up charecter just for the show. The show does feature many other characters that are based on real people.

btw i know this problem hasnt came up yet, but the japanese is strange in this show as everyone is speaking japanese but the characters are supposed to be speaking different languages, so sometimes characters dont understand eachother but its not clear as all the characters are just speaking japanese to the viewer, theres no distinction between english and norwegian, its all japanese. Also some people dont like the slow pacing of the first 3 episodes( which is weird to me because i love first 3 eps) but if your no digging it for this show i always say that ep 4 is the ep that gets everyone hooked if ur not hooked by the first 3(which again would be weird)

The episode begins with Thors slaughtering people left and right, and the episode ends with him saving life of a slave, which in those times is certainly not common. Very intriguing character, makes you wonder on why/how he changed. The way the series explores and develops characters is quite something, of the best I have personally seen!

Pat, If your looking for a war anime, check out "The Saga of Tanya the Evil" and "Legend of the Galactic Heroes" (1988). Tanya is short( 12 ep + movie), bloody, and awesome. Galactic Heroes is the Best War anime created, and is an epic tale of a clash of ideologies and strategic masterminds.

Just as a FYI for future reference, there are multiple characters who speak multiple languages in this series. Sometimes they'll have a side character say something along the lines of, "Huh, what language is that?" to clue the audience in to a change in spoken language. However, the majority of the time they don't do that and it can get confusing since everyone is speaking Japanese, so pay close attention to what region the characters are in and what nationality the characters speaking are.
