Regardless of the hate this show receives for later volumes, vol 1-3 are solid. Monty’s choreography was insanely good. The team had trouble recreating his magic after his passing, but they managed to get it to a good place by vol7. Don’t be put off by comments from people that stopped watching 3 volumes ago.

Fun fact about the Red trailer: Monty Oum made the whole thing himself, except for the song. The modeling, texturing, lighting, camera work, and particularly the fighting and animation were entirely Monty's vision and passion.

I used to really like RWBY, but yeah the controversy around it made me drop it. I don't get upset with those that dropped the show cause of it cause I get it, but I am really glad that people still like it and watch it, even though I feel like RWBY did something in a way that was not needed and could of handled it much better. The fandom is pretty awful, just a warning. I stay away from most of them except for some reactors. The show itself is great, sure one volume is definitely the weakest of all of them but overall it’s an engaging, crazy ride. The last two seasons that just passed are freaking insane and blow everything else out of the water, in my opinion at least.

Man RWBY's always iffy for me. I love the show to bits, but the controversy around so much stuff (that's mostly attributed to toxic fanbase, but that's not new). But hearing RLR Part 1 in the first trailer just re-ignite-d (hah get it) my love for the show.

Monty Oum was working for Rooster Teeth, mainly on their Red vs Blue series (still on-going), when he started developing RWBY in his spare time. Boss man at RT saw concept designs for Ruby's scythe and thought it was cool and decided to give the go ahead on his series. Monty did the trailers on his own (at least the first one for sure), then had an actual team to work on the rest. Sadly he passed away before Volume 3 could come out. Team Four Star even had a tribute to Monty in the opening of the Trunks history episode of DBZA. I know a good amount of people say the series went downhill after Volume 3, but for me I think they had a dip in overall quality in Volume 4 (although a huge leap in visual quality), a BIG dip in Volume 5, then a big rise with 6 and bigger in 7. If you guys decide to make a reaction series out of this you should consult your buddies at Blind Wave for what to expect, fan wise and content creator wise, they did a reaction series to RWBY and are all caught up

RWBY has a really special place in my heart. I've been with it since the Red trailer first came out. The late Monty Oum (the creator and animator for the hypest fights in the show) was an absolute legend and had so much talent. The whole community was devastated when he passed away. Color and themes mean a lot in this show. Heck, most of the characters in this are based off of fairy tales and stories. I think you could probably guess what these four girls' inspirations are. You could always find hidden details that take on a whole new meaning after you see what's ahead. And I LOVE some of foreshadowing. I'm honestly amazed how you guessed some of these themes already. So please, keep trying to point out and discussing the details and correlations in this show. I'm so glad you guys are picking up RWBY.

PLEASE DO NOT CUT YOUR REACTIONS TO RWBY - I cannot suggest this strongly enough. Rooster Teeth allows full length reference video reactions for RWBY, and a lot of people (myself included) like to re-watch the series in its entirety as reactors watch it for the first time. Even if you guys don't have a specific audible or visual reaction for part of the video, leaving in the full reference footage allows someone re-watching along with you to get the full experience.

Honestly one of my favorite shows istg! Words can't express how much I love RWBY and it's creativity! All of the characters are inspired by fairytales/myths/legends and I enjoy trying to guess who they are based off of from their appearance/abilities/weapons. Also there is so much world development and lore! Tbh I tried watching the first two episodes (didn't see the trailers whoops) on netflix back when I was 13 or 14 after the first season dropped but ended up forgetting about it. It was during season 6 when I heard a lot of hype about it and tried again...I ended up bingeing 6 seasons over two+ weeks and I would have finished it sooner if I didn't try to space it out. Anyway, I highly recommend this show to anyone and everyone!!

Just to manage expectations, the first volume is the worst in terms of animation and voice acting. Things improve significantly with each volume (with the exception of volume 4 because they end up having to learn a new animation program.) Story and weird anime cliche stuff gets thrown in a lot more in the first volume too, since the team that was writing it didn't want to commit too much to laying out major cliffhangers and story drops until they knew the show would go somewhere, so expect less of that too.

I've been watching RWBY since the Red Trailer dropped in 2012. The journey was incredible to see how the company (RoosterTeeth) grew, from just some dudes in an apartment, to a massive company that works on large scale animations, has a licensed manga adaptation, partnership with DC, and recruiting David Tennant, Maisie Williams, and michael b jordan to act in their shows. They have made some questionable decisions over the years, but I still enjoy RWBY and Gen:Lock.

The quality of the animation the first few is really cringy, and some of the conflict plus jokes probably aren't the best. But you gotta keep in mind that until Volume 3 they were a small group of people trying to dish out a AAA style content, so it was definitely impossible for them there. Nonetheless with each passing Season everything gets better (the only thing that Nose Dived was the fighting animations since Monty Oum Passed).

From what I understand, Monty Oum mainly handled/animated the trailers himself. Roosterteeth under his direction worked on Volumes 1-3 until his unfortunate passing. Roosterteeth is still working on the series with their in-house production team.
