The ants are real. Listen to the Better Call Saul Podcast.

Marcos Barreiro

For what it's worth, I don't feel like Kim is lying. Everything we've been told about her backstory (from a small nothing town, going to wind up married to the guy who runs the gas station) and characterization syncs up with her being poor. There is more vague evidence later on, but for my money I think it is genuine. This is why Acker rubs her the wrong way. He pegs her as a rich elite who doesn't care about the little guy, and it is forcing her to confront who she is at work vs who she wants to be (the Mesa Verde vs pro bono public defense clients has been her conflict since season 3). Acker not believing her story puts her in the same position as Jimmy... People will see her that way no matter what.

I disagree. You can tell that a part of her is very concerned about how risky it all is. She has mentioned the risks so many times. She likes it when Jimmy's strategies are successful but she is terrified of it backfiring. She does NOT want to be that person who lives with the outcomes that "Saul's way" brings.

You guys can't seem to wrap your head around the fact that maybe Kim likes doing things the "Saul way" and it's not actually Jimmy sucking her in anymore but her doing it because this who she wants to be.

Acker was a great guest character. It felt like they pulled him off the set of a Coen Brothers movie.

We did get that short story about Kim's past in her interview with Schweikart, and I gathered from that that her childhood was below middle class for sure. And what did she say she wanted? "More."

Jarrod Wild

But how will Kim's slow transformation affect Jimmy? Hmm...

Jarrod Wild

Kim is an intriguing mystery and I feel like now they are finally putting some focus on it.

god that Trailer park boys refrence :):)

The ants were not CGI, by the way. You guys called it. On the insider podcast, they mention they used some crazy macro lens to film it and actually brought in an “ant wrangler” and his own ant colony from LA for the shot as well.

very interesting. when i watched this episode the first time i believed kims story. i figured she needed help paying for law school, so i figured she was poor. interesting indeed

B00ch

You're starting to see that this show is just as much about the transformation of Kim as it is about Jimmy.

Has it finally set in that you actually don't know much at all about Kim? For me it was this episode and her story. We actually have no info on her background. We only know that she is a lawyer, that’s good at her job, that wants to do good but does some shady shit some time
