Raiding is a Viking culture and whatever you do there is deemed as honorable. Since the guys are comparing it to Vikings. When Ragnar Lodbrok raids, he waits for the English to go to Church but they didn't question the honorability of it. So Thorfinn doing all those things are acceptable in their culture.
