My interpretation of the priest speech on love is just like how hatred can be discriminated, love is as well. We are inherently selective about who we love. We selectively love our family, friends and other in our inner circle, but we cannot apply that same love to a stranger.

Victor Tran

The way you can interpret the Priests words (this is easy for Pat) is by .. think of when your friend makes a mistake that harms another but he denies it. You know damn well he denied it so you deny it. That is discrimination..not love for mankind not love as a whole. Cause your friend did a heinous deed and you defended him not thinking right and wrong. Lmaooo I hope this helps somehow probably not haha

FINALLY I shine lolololol - Marketa

The Normies

Marketta is actually a genius lmao. One of the few reactors to get the point of the Priest's message to Canute

Johnny Paradise

Meh I like the last episode way better but whatever

CANUTE SAGA BEGINS!!!!

Saifu

did you even watch the whole reaction because they werent "turned off" at all what m8?

HybridThizzle

Pat on vinland is like eating steak with ketchup

Bob

Marketa was definitely the MVP this episode seems to be the only one who really understood what was happening.

That really was a shame that they completely ignored what the priest was saying by claiming the episode was "preachy and emo". The priest was referring to God's love. The idea that the only true form of love is that which loves equally regardless of action, consequence, or inheritance. That's why the priest believes that only the dead and inanimate objects can express true love.

Leaky Peach

Canute the Great has arrived! Also props to Marketa for immediately picking up what the priest was putting down.

hmmm, maybe I'm an emo then, don't think I am. But it's really too bad that the guys didn't see the same profoundness in this episode that I did when I watched it the first time. What the priest had to say was pretty intense in my personal opinion. It is something to think about. Is it real LOVE if you say you love someone so much, you'd kill someone else for them? I don't know the answer, but i found it crazy that an anime made me think about that.

Matt

Man this episode was amazing

George Byrd

One of my two favorite eps of the season. (Other is the village girl ep)

Lmao i love how everyone was so excited for Normies to get to this episode, and all the reaction amounted to was "this is preachy bro" "i don't believe in this, naw you're wrong" "that's just the circle of life bro" "Canute has gone full emo bro." Just very turned off, and distracted by the whole development Canute was going through. Marketa you were wonderful though. I love our boys, but they would be lost on this couch without you haha. Every reaction needs that person to tell the rest to be quite, and pay attention. Also the pen, and notebook! Thank you! 🖤

The priest has been searching for the answer to "what is love" for a number of episodes. The answer is that of God's love. Unconditional love. That's why he had an epiphany when the brothers spoke to him about Thors a few episodes back - Thors was a warrior who refused to kill (unthinkable in this era). It was his first glimpse at the true meaning of love. Now we see this love in the plants, the earth, the wind, the sun, the stars... all things that cannot judge others. Similarly, death "perfects a person" because they can no longer pass judgment on others. All things are valued equally.

Seriously that show is so good in writing

All Hail King Canute. The Bretwalda they need!

MojoJojoGojo

Best episode of the season. The stuff with Canute and The Priest and then the fight with Throkell and Throfinn. Just so fucking good

the thing that pat was talking about; the priest said ragnar did care for canute, but that it was not love. in priest's eyes, true love isn't something that you can choose to give to certain people, while treating others like shit, hence the analogy "fawning over a king while hitting a slave with a whip", the true essence of love is to give, not complain, and not discriminate, and that is something that us, people, will never achieve. canute realized that god made us this way, and ever since we were expelled from paradise - when our ancestors commited the sin, we only existed to get tested, and that made him do a 180* that we saw here. now you dont have to agree with priest's teachings, but you need to understand it if you want to understand the actions of our characters, not being stubborn and being open minded to new ideas goes a long way in life :)

Can you react to the last kingdom on Netflix. I over watching you guys react to shows about Viking and the past era.
