Chris, how close were you to saying "is you taking notes on a criminal fucking conspiracy"?

Kelvin Anujak

This arc wasn't my favorite, ill be back at 24

L for sure would have let Matsuda die if there was absolutely no conceivable way to do it without jeopardizing the mission. That being said the Kira case is such an extraordinary circumstance that its necessary. In a relatively more mundane case I'm sure L would go out of his way to save him. It is an interesting thought that L would do the exact same thing as Light with the Death Note, but I don't think so either. Light's whole God complex doesn't really stem from having the Death Note Per se, it's that he fucked around and found out it was real. Once he confirmed to himself that he was a murderer he immediately justified it as justice because otherwise he would be psychological destroyed by the guilt. The real difference between L and Light would lie there. If L got the book first, read the rules and felt compelled to test them in the first place. As is he absolutely would because he needs evidence of Kira's kill method, but without the Kira case I think he would brush it off as absurd and completely unethical to even attempt. All speculation of course but that's my take.

wow your take on L is certainly a different one. I think there is a difference between putting some one at a calculated risk and sacrificing them all together. It honestly sounds more like your describing Light, he is some one 100% willing to sacrifice anyone to achieve his goal. Where as L goes to great lengths in order to protect those he works with. He does use the inmates as decoys but as stated they were already set to die, so their sacrifice wasn't much. Is he fully focused and determined to solve the case, oh with out a doubt. But is he willing to "sacrifice however many is needed". Again, I think that would just defeat the purpose of him winning, he knows if he did go to that extreme he would've sunk down to Lights level and been no better then he was. Just my opinion.

Chris

Damn. L's finally going off.

Max

oh course he doesnt care. are we watching the same show? L is very much "the whole is more important than a single person" kinda guy. he's not superman who will save everyone and risk no one, he will sacrifice however many is needed to 1. win 2. stop ALL from dying
